This large and very unique flower pin was made in Puerto Rico in the 1960s. The flower has the original card, and you can read the description in my photos. The front of the card reads. " Puerto Rican Fishscales by The Islander ".This handmade flower is made of tarpon fish scales that have been dyed deep coral pink. The fish scales are thick and durable, because they are tarpon scales. They feel like velvet to the touch but they are hard like seashells. The center is adorned with a few small pearls and the fish scales are tightly wired together with copper wire. The flower is in perfect condition, including the natural ruffled edges. If you see what looks like scratches in my photos, it is just the white ribbing in the scales that is a natural texture. The pin has 2 layers of petals and measures 3" wide. This pin has never been taken off of the original card!Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
