Made in the 1960 - 1970 era, this Retro Modern cufflink and tie clasp set is a very uncommon Swank set. This was one of their premier sets called Grand Prix, sold to fans of the Indy 500 and Nascar. This was a new stylish design; modern geometrics that was much different from traditional Mid-Century Modern. 

The cufflinks are made of both polished gold and polished silver metal; half and half. The design has the 3D look of a rectangular box but it is a tricky 2D design, made of 2 parallelograms and a square. The square areas are polished Tigers Eye cabs. The long tie clasp is also half and half gold and silver metal with a small Tigers Eye cab. 

The original cufflink box is an exceptional box : Nutmeg brown crushed velvet with double gold metal bands on the exterior ; velvet insert card is present; white silk lined lid with Grand Prix in gold and a frame in metallic gold. The cufflink box is clean with some signs of light wear and gentle handling; one back corner has a rough worn spot in the velvet. 

The cufflinks are 1 3/8" long x 5/8" tall or 34 mm x 15 mm. The long slender tie clasp is 2 1/4" long x 1/4" wide or 64 mm x 8mm. The cufflinks and the tie clasp are signed Swank and the inside of the box is signed Swank as well. The cufflinks and tie clasp are new and never worn and in pristine perfect like new condition.
