Made in the 1960s and signed West Germany, this Pop Art butterfly pin is a great vintage example of how the world was trying to go 3D. We take for granted today that we have laser cut metals, crystals, plastics, and even new LED tv's or 3D but back in the 1960s, there were no such things! There were no computers, let alone software that could do 3D renditions! This butterfly is actually 2 metal butterflies, one on top of the other with a small gap between the wings. We were also trying to go green in the 1960s, and these New Age brilliant enamels are four different shades of neon green. Neon paints were also a new big deal in the 1960s.The butterfly is medium large in size at 2 1/4" wide x 1 3/4" tall, or 5.8 cm x 4.4 cm. The enamels on this pin are in pristine like new glossy condition with no scratches, chips, or crazing. The back of the pin looks like brand new as well. The entire pin is clean and bright like the day it was made about 45-50 years ago!Comes gift wrapped and shipped in a new presentation jewelry box.
