This superb Victorian Majolica "Fish on Waves" pitcher was made by the factory Shorter & Son, Staffordshire, England. It is circa 1905.The pitcher is decorated in deep relief molded patterns of two fish, sea shells, seaweed, rope, bubbles, and waves. The base color is ecru and the rich majolica colors are royal blue, teal, deep sea green, copper brown, and deep cranberry. This exceptional and rare pitcher is referred to in several Majolica books for collectors with old book values of about $200.Medium in size, the pitcher is 5 1/4" wide x 4 1/4"tall and holds 12 oz. This pitcher has never been used and has been safely stored away for many decades. The entire picture is in pristine clean condition with no imperfections or flaws.
